Franklin Street Roadway Reconstruction Project

Project Summary: This project runs along Franklin Street from Main Street to Howard Street and includes geometric improvements, roadway widening, pavement reconstruction, traffic signal reconstruction and installation, sidewalk construction/reconstruction, drainage improvements, new pavement markings and signage, and streetscape improvements (brick-paver accent strips and crosswalks, and street trees). The Massachusetts Highway Department will oversee the construction of this project. The construction that was originally scheduled to begin in the spring of 2007 has started as of early summer of 2008 and is expected to continue until mid summer of 2010.

Project Details:

Construction Project Updates Through the month of October, drainage work will continue along the southern end of Franklin Street and work its way north. Sidewalk installation on both sides of Franklin Street from Main Street to the bridge over the Sudbury River will be near completion. Bridge work over the Sudbury River will continue and should be finished in late October or early November. Finally, traffic signals for both the intersections of Franklin Street / Main Street and Franklin Street / Maple Street, have been ordered and should be installed by the end of this years construction season.
