Herbert Street Bridge and Sewer Replacement Project

Project Summary: The Herbert Street Bridge and Sewer Replacement Project involves the construction of a new bridge over Beaver Dam Brook with new sewer, water and gas utility crossings. The project is jointly funded with the Town of Ashland. Herbert Street will be closed between Tripp Street and Eames Street for the duration of construction. Construction will start in September 2008 and will be completed in early spring 2009.

Project Details: Bridge Work: Remove and replace existing bridge with a new bridge. Sewer Work: Replacment of approximately 400 feet of gravity sewer pipe. Water Work: Replace water main crossing Beaver Dam Brook. Road Work: Sidewalk and roadway reconstruction at the bridge and curb to curb repaving of the roadway within project area. Gas/Electric: Remove and replace existing utilities.

Construction Project Updates Construction activities for this week include excavation for subgrade of footings and continued demolition of existing bridge walls and abutments.
